Cambridge & Lake Karapiro New Zealand

Notable Cambridge natives are members of The Datsuns and equestrian double Olympic gold medal winner Mark Todd.

Lake Karapiro, recognised as one of the premium rowing lakes in the world has produced several world rowing champions, notably Georgina and Caroline the Evers-Swindell twins, Mahe Drysdale, Rob Waddell and James Dallinger.

World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist cyclist Sarah Ulmer also lives and trains in Cambridge, making Cambridge deserving of "Town of Trees and Champions".

Joelle King, winner of the Australian Open squash title in 2009 hails from the town.

Former New Zealand and Australasian champion archer Brooke La Pine also called Cambridge home for 23 years.

The 2010 world championship rowing will be held at Lake Karapiro from the 28th of October to the 7th of November 2010.
